ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE

When businesses engage Second City Works, they often seek to create deeper connections with colleagues, customers, and other critical stakeholders. Engagements with our clients can take various forms, including workshops, keynotes, customized videos, corporate entertainment, and more.

As an Event Sales Manager for our Toronto theatre, you will be an individual contributor responsible for promoting our Toronto theatre as the venue of choice for local and visiting businesses looking to host anyone from clients to associates in a premier space that also offers the ability to incorporate the world-class programming that can only be offered by The Second City.

To be successful in this role, your focus will be on understanding the unique needs of each client, consulting with them to create tailored event solutions, and, ultimately, ensuring their events are executed flawlessly. You will need experience landing new clients, expanding upon our penetration of existing clients, and cross-selling our other B2B services. The best candidates will have experience creating memorable events while meeting sales quotas across a book of business ranging from small businesses to enterprise clients.

This role will be based in Second City’s Toronto theatre at 1 York Street.
Salary – $70,000 CAD with an OTE of $110,000 CAD
Start date August 5th, 2024

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cultivate strong relationships with corporate clients, understanding their event requirements and providing expert guidance on how our services can meet their needs.
Develop and execute effective sales strategies to acquire new corporate clients and expand business opportunities within existing accounts.
Collaborate with our event planning and execution teams to craft customized proposals and solutions that address the specific objectives and budgetary considerations of each client.
Partner with third-party providers including our F&B partner.
Manage inbound leads while also creating your book of business through lead generation and outbound calling to prospects.
Plan and execute on-site experiences for customers and corporate groups including performances in our theaters as well as pre- and post-show events.
Serve as a trusted advisor, offering insights and recommendations on venue selection, catering options, entertainment, and other event logistics to ensure a seamless and memorable experience.
Lead negotiations on pricing, terms, and contracts, ensuring profitability while maintaining client satisfaction and loyalty.

QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of consistent event sales success, with the majority of annual quota ($1M+) coming from new business.
Familiarity with the event planning industry, including current trends, competitors, and best practices.
Experience selling products or services to Fortune 1000 leaders, navigating multiple stakeholders across an organization.
Experience with complex enterprise-level selling strategies and growing accounts from within.
Proven reliability to self-manage schedule, targets and timelines
Communication skills that make other people envious; collaboration skills that make teammates thankful.
Demonstrated sales success due to inquisitiveness, resilience and/or likeability. Preferably all 3.
Available to work evenings and weekends on-site at The Second City Toronto.
This position may involve moving or lifting items up to 30 pounds.
