The Facilities/Tech Coordinator is responsible for a variety of duties that relate to the cleanliness, upkeep, and functionality of the physical structure of The Second City. This role also assists the Technical Director of Stages with the smooth operation of and upkeep of all theatrical equipment in Second City New York’s two theaters.
This role involves working with various types of equipment and systems, such as lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, among others.
This role is able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Responsibilities include:
Help maintain the inventory of theatrical equipment for venues and multiple rehearsal spaces with the Technical Director.
Perform routine maintenance on venue equipment and infrastructure as per the Technical Director.
Specifications:
This position has the following requirements:
– Graduation from a high school or equivalent accredited certification plus at least 2 years of experience in a similar role
– Basic knowledge of computers, internet, and email
– Able to lift items up to 40 pounds
– Ability to work while standing, walking and crouching for at least 4 hours at a time
– Comfortable using a 6-foot step ladder
Expertise in at least one technical theater discipline (lighting, audio) is a must, as is competence in at least one additional discipline. Applicants should be strong collaborators and self-directed.
To be successful in this role, maintenance technicians should have a basic understanding of theater equipment as well as a background in maintenance and repair. They should also be able to work well in a team environment, have strong communication skills, and be able to work effectively under pressure.
