Monika Smith grew up in Toronto, Canada. She started modeling internationally at a young age until she realized she likes food and smiling too much. She started doing comedy and performed with The Second City Toronto Touring Company, and numerous shows in theatres across North America. Monika has performed at UCB NY/LA, Chicago Improv Festival, iO Chicago, iO West, Del Close Marathon, and many more.
Monika is currently a series regular on TBS’s The Last Laugh, and Yahoo TV’s Holly On Top. Past credits include: HBO’s Newsroom, Two And a Half Men, Newsreaders, Joe Schmo, Nick Swardson’s Pretend Time, Disaster Date, Players, in sketches on The Tonight Show and Conan. And some commercials that no one needs to see, really… Seriously, no one.
When not acting or writing, Monika can be found performing on a house team at UCB as well as performing in comedy theatres in Los Angeles. She has continued to teach and perform at The Second City Hollywood, where she can be seen in McSmith, a two-person, improvised one-act play with Kevin McGeehan, and Smokehouse, a long-form improv group.
