Giant Skybeam: King of the Ping

Epic comedy from across the genre-verse!
From some of the people who brought you the long-running, Off-Broadway wizard comedy Puffs, Or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic and the cult hit epic Kapow-i GoGo, comes an evening of comedy celebrating all genre-based entertainment: Giant Skybeam.
Each show explores a new dimension of fantastic voyages, ripping yarns, sci-fi, fantasy, romantasy, hard boiled noir, impossible missions, tales that are meant to astonish and tales originating in crypts alike! You’re in for sweeping stories told in a very tiny room!
This month’s genre is sports movies — y’know last minute saves, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat, underdogs, Rudys, fields containing dreams, Bulls that are Durham, know-it-all rookies and seen-it-all old timers, colorful commentators, a sabermetrics reference or two, with coaches both encouraging and intensely angry. All wrapped up in that most brutal of competitive events: Table Tennis. Whiff Whaff. Ping Pong. Join us as Giant Skybeam presents: The King Of Ping: For The Love Of The Pong.

Sketch Comedy
A sketch is a short, scripted comedy scene. Think Key and Peele or SNL. Some people might call it a "skit," but we never do. Chicago is the home of modern sketch comedy, and today, you can experience it at all Second City locations.
